The Curriculum

Part 1 – Introduction to Adult Echocardiography:

A 16-week phase focusing on cardiac ultrasound imaging
Training includes various imaging types, such as 2D, M-Mode, and Doppler
Plenty of hands-on training opportunities

Part 2 – Clinical Placements/Rotations:

A practical 16-week stage working in different clinical settings
Real-world experience with echocardiograms on actual patients

Part 3 – Industry-Based Learning (IBL):

An intensive 72-week phase.
Heartscope will act as your nominated supervisor for the duration of your university course.
Focuses on advanced techniques including Stress testing, Strain imaging, and Bubble Study and much more.
By the end, you will be able to perform comprehensive echocardiograms, recognise and assess various conditions, prepare preliminary reports, and understand abnormal ECG rhythms.
Note: You will need to be enrolled in an ASAR Accredited cardiac course before starting this part.

Reena is a seasoned professional in the field of cardiac sonography, boasting over 15 years of experience. Her expertise is not only limited to practice but also extends to teaching, having mentored students and physicians for the past 5 years. A testament to her effective teaching methods is the success of her students, the majority of whom have become accomplished cardiac sonographers themselves.

Reena’s academic background includes a Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasonography (Cardiac) from ASUM, which further solidifies her proficiency in the field. Her ability to manage and instruct over a dozen students and physicians at a time showcases her exceptional teaching skills. As a senior cardiac sonographer, she brings a wealth of practical knowledge and insights to each course, making her an invaluable asset to the program.

Our Courses

While our echocardiography training program is split into three distinct phases, each phase can be completed individually. However, it’s important to note that progression is sequential – you’ll need to complete Part 1 to move on to Part 2, and likewise, Part 2 must be completed to begin Part 3.

Note: We are now taking registrations of interest for 2024 – Part 1: Introduction to Adult Echocardiography. Semester 2 will start on the 20th May 2024. Registrations for this will close 1 week prior.
